The Month of Shout! Factory- Horror Movies Coming to Netflix & DVD July 2016

A new month means new releases, and July is turning out to be a good month for fans of classic horror. The kings of the remaster- Shout! Factory - have been hard at work and are rolling out multiple titles this month. Not only are the DVD/Blu-ray releases impressive, but Netflix has redeemed themselves with more genre releases this month than last; including a new original series geared towards horror fans.


July 1st

Dreamcatcher: Based on a Stephen King novel. Sci-fi film about an alien invasion. Stars: Morgan Freeman, Thomas Jane, Jason Lee, Damien Lewis and Donnie Wahlberg

Pandemic: The world struggles to hold grip on reality after a disease infects the majority of the population. Stars: Rachel Nichols, Alfie Allen, Missi Pyle and Mekhi Phifer

July 8th

The Invitation: After getting invited to a dinner party, a man comes to believe that his ex-wife and her new husband have something sinister planned for their guests. Stars: Logan Marshall-Green, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Aiden Lovekamp and Michelle Krusiec

July 15th

Holidays: Horror anthology centered around nine iconic holidays. Stars: Lorenza Izzo, Kevin Smith, Seth Green, Harley Quinn Smith and Clare Grant

Rebirth: A young man finds himself on a crazy adventure after he hands over his whole identity during a seminar on rebirth. Stars: Nicky Whelan, Adam Goldberg and Harry Hamlin

Stranger Things (season 1): A new Netflix original series. A young woman searches for her son when he mysteriously goes missing in the middle of the night. Stars: Winona Ryder, David Harbour and Finn Wolfhard


July 5th

Absolution: Re-release of the 1978 classic. A confession at a Catholic School turns into a murder investigation after a student tells Father Goddard that he accidentally murdered his friend and buried him in the woods. Stars: Richard Burton, David Bradley and Billy Connolly

Blood and Black Lace: 2-Disc Limited Edition Steelbook: A serial killer dressed in all black brutally murders fashion models. Stars: Cameron Mitchell, Eva Bartok and Thomas Reiner

Cabin Fever: Five friends retreat to a cabin for a week of partying only to fall prey to a gruesome flesh-eating virus. Stars: Gage Golightly, Matthew Daddario and Samuel Davis

The Pack: A farmer and his family must fight to survive when a pack of wild dogs infiltrate their secluded farmhouse. Stars: Anna Lise Phillips, Kate Moore and Jack Campbell

Me and My Mates vs. the Zombie Apocalypse: Three Australian telecom workers find themselves trapped in a telephone exchange during an impending zombie invasion. Stars: Jim Jefferies, Adele Vuko and Alex Williamson

July 12th

Carnival of Souls: After a traumatic accident, a woman becomes drawn to a mysterious, abandoned carnival. Stars: Candace Hillgoss, Frances Feist and Sidney Berger

Cat in the Brain: A horror director is stalked by a psychiatrist/serial killer bent on killing people modeling the kills after the gory death scenes in the director's films. Stars: Lucio Fulci, David L. Thompson and Malisa Longo

Green Room: After witnessing a murder, a punk rock band is forced into a fight for survival against a group of maniacal skinheads. Stars: Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Patrick Stewart 

Hunters: Tale of two cinephile brothers who abduct victims from a rural wooded area in Pennsylvania. They objectify and humiliate them leaving them stripped of humanity. Stars: J.D Brown, Linnea Quigley and Ellie Church

Just Desserts: The Making of Creepshow: Details the making of Stephen King & George Romero's 1982 horror anthology classic, from conception to completion.

Model Hunger: Former model & actress Ginny has been cast aside by the industry due to her body type. She didn't take the rejection well. Stars: Lynn Lowry, Tiffany Shepis, and Suzi Lorraine.

July 19th

Bad Moon: A man struggles to contain a curse within and his last-ditch attempt to free himself. Stars: Mariel Hemmingway, Michael Pare, and Mason Gamble.

The Return of the Living Dead: When 2 employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gasinto the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again - as Zombies. Stars: Clu Gulager, James Karen, Don Calfa, and Linnea Quigley.

July 26th

The Boy Who Cried Werewolf: RIchie Bridgestone goes to spend the weekend with his Dad at his secluded cabin. During a moonlight hike, they are attacked by a creature that he believes is a werewolf. Stars: Elaine Devry & Scott Sealy. 

Hellhole: An unlucky woman's mother is murdered by a scarf-wielding killer named Silk, leaving the woman injured, traumatized, and suffering from amnesia. She's committed to a mental institution where Silk follows her. He is only the beginning of her problems; the asylum is run by a mad doctor. Stars: Ray Sharkey, Judy Landers, and Marjoe Gortner.
